OFFICIALS of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and Cebu City Government have decided to file charges against the two groups that were involved in a melee in Gen. Maxilom Ave. around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Dec.3, 2022.
The video of the incident was uploaded by a certain Grace Panugaling on her Facebook page that later went viral.
The two groups were summoned to the office of CCPO Chief Col. Ireneo Dalogdog in the afternoon of the same day where it was found out that jealousy was the reason behind the incident.
City Councilor Phillip Zafra and officials of Barangay Kamputhaw were also present during the meeting.
Dalogdog said the confrontation started when somebody from another group approached a woman who was with the other group.
The violence began when tempers flared between the two groups, which led to the melee in the street.
Their confrontation was only disrupted when a policeman arrived.
Dalogdog ordered Maj. Nolan Tagsip, chief of the Abellana Police Station, to probe the incident and summon the persons involved in the melee.
Not off the hook
During the meeting, the two groups agreed to settle their differences and decided not to file a case against each other.
They also issued an apology.
Dalogdog, on his part, however, said they will continue filing their charges to prevent the youths from creating trouble in the streets.
Dalogdog said they are set to file alarm and scandal charges against the two groups to teach them a lesson. (AYB / TPT)
