Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched its new routes and connections to Baguio, Borongan, Bangkok and BARMM.
Yes, this is Philippine Airlines’ significant expansion of its hub in Cebu, called “Larga Ta, Cebu,” the Queen City of the South, that connects to Baguio in Northern Luzon, Borongan in Eastern Samar, Cotabato City and Tawi-Tawi, the commercial link to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). All these make Cebu the “Queen of Gateways.”
Dec. 9 marks the resumption of PAL flights to Bangkok. PAL president and operating officer, captain Stanley K. Ng, said that this proactive scheme strengthens Cebu as a tourism and business hub. Furthermore, officer-in-charge and president of PAL Express, Rabbi Ang, noted how Cebu has been augmenting the facilities of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport to meet the standards of safe and healthy travel.
During the media forum held at Radisson Blu Cebu, there were concerns about the expansion of the VIP room, punctuality in coping with numerous flight schedules, updating of VIP cards, reactive schemes to respond to concerns like Covid-19, typhoons and flight hazards. All these were noted to cope with PAL’s 200 weekly flights to some 19 destinations comprising 17 cities in the Philippines, plus Bangkok and Tokyo.
Specifically, one permeating goal is to “revitalize Cebu thoroughly as the regional connection with the added flight links with the Narita International Airport.”
It was good to see Harry Inoferio and Vic Suarez, who have been part of PAL’s growth, specifically in Cebu. They have imbibed the brand of the “heart like no other,” and made every PAL trip safe and sound.
