THE Oro Marching Arts Guild won the first place in the 2022 Marching Band Competition held during the launching of Cagayan de Oro's "Pasko de Oro" on December 1, 2022.

As the champion band, Oro Marching Arts Guild brought home P50,000 in cash prize. This was followed by the second placer Pilgrim Christian College, receiving P30,000; and the third placer Barangay Bayanga, which got P20,000.

Consolation prizes of P5,000 were each given to other participating contingents, namely Silverianz DBC, and the community bands of Barangays Lumbia and Patag.

City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, who was present during the competition, and expressed enjoyment in the marching bands' performances, added P5,000 to all the above-mentioned cash prizes.

"Dako nakong kalipay ug pagpasalamat usab bisan tood gamay-gamay ra mo pero naningkamot gyud mo niining kasaulogan pagbukas sa atong kapaskuhan, inyo gyud ning gipaningkamotan," Uy said.

Apart from winning the grand prize, Oro Marching Arts Guild also won the ‘Best Band Majorette’ and ‘Most Disciplined Group’ special awards.

Pilgrim Christian College also got the ‘Best in Musicality’ and ‘Best Band Master’ awards, while Barangay Bayanga received the ‘Most Lively Group’ award.

On the same day, the judges for the Paskorela have already began pre-judging the six motorelas adorned in colorful Christmas-themed decorations.

The winners will be announced during the Pasko de Oro Grand Awarding Show on December 14 at the Amphitheater. (SunStar Philippines)
