AROUND 6,000 devotees are expected to attend the first mass for this year’s Misa de Gallo at the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church in Sibonga, Cebu on December 16, 2022.

Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has announced that he will concelebrate the first mass of the Christmas dawn masses in Sibonga because the southern town was one of the badly hit areas by Super Typhoon Odette, which devastated the southern part of the province on the night of December 16, 2021.

Sibonga Police Station Chief Major Rodgene Fodutan said they are ready to secure the church for the activity.

He said 14 police officers from the Sibonga Police Station and 30 to 40 force multipliers will be stationed inside and outside the church.

He said the number may go up if they can get additional manpower from the provincial headquarters.

Fodutan said they will set up assistance desks in strategic locations inside the church compound to address public concerns.

Meanwhile, the police chief urged the public to observe minimum health protocols as a protection against the coronavirus disease. (BBT/PJB)
