THE Lapu-Lapu City resident who recently topped the December 2022 Occupational Therapist Licensure Examinations (OTLE) will receive a cash gift from Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan.
Lindy Zalan Jimenez Aviles, 22, is set to receive P100,000 from Chan.
Aviles, a graduate of Velez College, ranked first in the OTLE earlier this month with an overall rating of 83.60 percent.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Dec. 7, Chan said that Aviles will receive the cash gift once the requirements for the city’s board passer’s incentive are completed and verified.
“I want Lindy to know that, as father of this city, I am very proud of what you have accomplished. Because of your achievements, you give honor to our city,” Chan said in Cebuano.
Separately, Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Annabeth Cuizon told SunStar Cebu that it has been a practice of the City to give an award in accordance to Ordinance 14-095-2017, or the National Professional Exam Incentive Ordinance.
Under the ordinance, the City Government will give the following cash incentives to residents who land in the top 10 in National Professional Examinations: P100,000 (first); P90,000 (second); P80,000 (third); P70,000 (fourth); P60,000 (fifth); P50,000 (sixth); P40,000 (seventh); P30,000 (eighth); P20,000 (ninth); and P10,000 (tenth).
Residents who pass any of the said exam but did not land in the top 10 will also receive a P5,000 cash incentive.
Aside from Jimenez, four other graduates from Cebu-based universities topped the OTLE. They are Angelica Gabiana Sanchez of Cebu Doctors’ University who ranked third; and Shannen Louise Navidad Villas, Dorothy Ramirez Dizon and Earl Joshua Lao Go of Velez College who landed in seventh, ninth and 10th place, respectively.
