AUTHORITIES are looking into the possibility that a 12-year-old victim was raped before she was killed, and whose dead body was found at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Purok 5, Sitio Malacombeng, Barangay Sibulan, Toril District in Davao City.
According to Davao City Spokesperson Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, the suspect behind the killing of the minor victim has yet to be determined as police are still investigating the case.
The victim was found dead along the side of a creek in the area. She had a bruise on her neck and had her clothes below taken off. There was also blood seen on her genitals.
Based on the preliminary information, Police Major Jonnel Bonguyan, the station commander of the Eden Police Station, revealed that the victim attended a festival and asked her parents to allow her to sleep at her grandfather's house on Saturday, December 3.
The next day, the victim left her grandfather's house to go home in the morning. However, a few hours later, the victim was found dead about 300 meters from her grandfather's house, with a bruise on her neck. Authorities believed that she may have been strangled.
Authorities have conducted a thorough investigation, where in its latest report, they have already identified the persons of interest in the case.
The victim's cadaver was immediately taken to the nearest funeral parlor in Toril where it was subjected to an autopsy.
