HUNGER and exhaustion allegedly forced a former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) underground movement member to surrender to authorities at Barangay Kapitan Ramon in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, December 6.

Lt. Col. Mark Darroca, Silay City police chief, said that the male CTG, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, surrendered past 3 p.m. at the barangay’s Hacienda Punong.

Darroca said the former CTG member surrendered to the joint personnel of 605th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion Intelligence unit, E.B Magalona and Silay City Police and the 79th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

The surrenderee also turned over with his home-made 12 gauge shotgun without serial number and a rifle grenade, police records showed.

Darroca said the former CTG, who has no pending arrest warrants, is now undergoing debriefing.
