MORE or less 2,000 fans have witnessed the “Be You 2: The World Will Care” concert at the Mactan Newtown despite the scattered rains Thursday evening, December 8, 2022.

Police Colonel Elmer Lim, director of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), told SunStar Cebu that the fandom of the K-pop artists started to flock to the venue around 3 p.m., or two hours and a half before the concert started at 5:30 p.m.

Lim said the traffic situation in Barangay Mactan was normal amid the event, which pushed through despite the drizzles.

The city director also said that no untoward incidents occurred during the event.

“Security plan was implemented properly. No untoward incident recorded and generally peaceful during the entire duration of the event,” said Lim.

K-pop stars Chen and Xiumin of super boyband Exo, "The Queen of K-Pop” BoA and U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin of boy band TVXQ expressed their gratitude to the crowd and promised to come back soon as they took their bow when the show came to an end.

Before the concert, the K-pop artists received a warm welcome from their Cebuano fans after landing at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Wednesday night, December 7.

Cebuano K-pop fans were cooperative with airport personnel, said Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) Public Affairs Office head Mary Ann Dimabayao.

The concert served as the K-Pop stars’ first leg in their Philippine tour. The concert’s second leg featuring the same artists will happen at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Metro Manila on December 9. (MKG)
