No severe, critical Covid-19 cases in Eastern Visayas, DOH says

NO SEVERE and critical cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have been admitted to Eastern Visayas hospitals amid the region's continued cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“With the downgraded alert level status in the different parts of the region and the gradual decline of our Covid-19 cases in the region, let us continue to be vigilant and practice the minimum public health standards in all settings,” the Department of Health (DOH) in the region said.

In its latest bulletin, the regional health department said that out of 49 intensive care unit (ICU) beds intended for patients with Covid-19, seven (14.29 percent) are occupied.

It added that some 23.56 percent of 1,125 non-ICU Covid-19 beds are currently being used.

From November 28 to December 4, 2022, the region also logged 91 new cases out of 880 laboratory test results in four laboratories in Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, 2,864,805 individuals, or 84.1 percent of the region’s target population, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, while 524,822 individuals have already received booster shots.

Some 70.3 percent of the target A2 population have already received their primary series.

“As we go through a more lenient implementation of our border restrictions which cause our mobility to increase, it is very important to still practice our health protocols,” the health department said.

As of December 5 alone, the region’s total number of Covid-19 cases is at 64,365, with total recoveries at 63,572 (98.77 percent) and total deaths at 687 (1.07 percent), bringing the total active cases to 106 (0.16 percent).

As this developed, the DOH continued to intensify the vaccination rollout against Covid-19 all over the region. (SunStar Philippines)
