A FISHERMAN drowned after getting entangled to a flotation marker in Barangay Lucatan, Tarragona, Davao Oriental on Saturday, December 9, 2022.
In a report from the Mati City Information Office, rescue forces retrieved the body of the victim identified as Dennis Ken Risonar.
According to the report, the victim was said to be spearfishing alone in the area when the accident happened. He got entangled in a line from a buoy at a depth of 16 to 18 meters.
Resonar was a resident of Barangay Dahican in Mati City.
Prior to the rescue operations, rescuers were advised against doing a night dive due to strong current.
The retrieval operation started Sunday morning while the body was sighted around 8:25 a.m.
Risonar’s body was retrieved by the composite diver's team of the Mati City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices and the Philippine Coast Guard around 10:30 p.m.
