THE just-concluded Justice German Jose G. Lee Jr. Memorial Football Tournament showed a competitive field as no team was able to win more than one title in the age group divisions.

In usual festivals, favorites like Don Bosco Technological Center, Giuseppe, and Sheba would usually bring home two titles, but this time around they were limited to one.

Giuseppe FC beat DBTC A for the U9 title, with Marcus Rama earning MVP honors, while Sheba FC got the U11 crown over Giuseppe, thanks to the stellar play of MVP Ben Traviz Villanea. DBTC A beat sister team DBTC B to win the Boys 15 crown with Mark Talingting earning MVP honors.

On the other hand, Lapu-Lapu United showed it has some of the best newcomers in the community after beating Giuseppe for the U7 crown. Nete Laurence Aparece got the MVP award in the division.

In the BPO Men’s Division, Bodoy Estomago towed Concentrix FC to the crown over Knowles FC, while Louella Alubor was named the MVP after leading MEZ United FC over JPMC FC. In the Men’s professionals, Dexter Arrojado and the CF Engineers beat Healthcare United FC, while John Clyde Vitualla lifted DB2002 18 Degrees over Alcoy FC in the Men’s Open.

Noriyuki Yamaguchi was named the MVP after lifting Makoto FC to the 40-above title over Alcoy FC, while goalkeeper Nimrod Quiñones got the MVP plum in the 50-Above division after Queen City United’s triumph over Erco Bro.

Meanwhile, Central Visayas Football Association president Rodney Orale said he is very grateful to Abraham Lee for sponsoring the tournament in honor of his late father. The tournament, the latest entry of CVFA’s football calendar, is also the first that used the nine-a-side format that ran for more than a month.

“The Central Visayas football community is very lucky for the support of Mr. Abraham Lee, and we look forward to holding more tournaments with him in the future,” said Orale.
