THE Light the World Giving Machines, vending machines that offer a unique and memorable way to share the light by serving and caring for others, are now in Cebu.
These Giving Machines include items such as food, hygiene kits, educational materials and resources, water treatment, emergency and repair kits, vitamins, eyeglasses, medical kits, gardening tools, and psychosocial support. Interested donors simply purchase an item of their choice through the vending machine, then drop it inside the donation box.
This initiative is led by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It invites everyone to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and follow His teachings through the #LightTheWorld initiative.
In a press conference on Nov. 25, VIPs from participating organizations assured everyone that since the Church covers all operational costs, 100 percent of donations will go directly to the beneficiaries, assisted by Cebu Caritas, Feed the Children Inc. and Mabuhay Deseret Foundation Inc.
The Light the World Giving Machines are located at Level 1, Paseo Ciudad, Ayala Center Cebu, and will be available to the public until Jan. 2, 2023.
This year, more people can participate worldwide as the Light the World initiative expands to 28 locations including the United States, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Guatemala, and the Philippines. It is the first time Cebu City is hosting these giving machines.
