Firecracker maker nabbed

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO A 64-year old man was arrested by cops in Bocaue, Bulacan for allegedly manufacturing firecrackers without permit.

Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen, director of Police Regional Office III, said the town police in Bocaue received reports the reports that there was an illegal manufacturing of firecrackers in Barangay Biñang in the said town.

A police operation was launched which led to the arrest of one man identified as Edgardo Mendoza alias “Eddie”, 64.

The suspect was allegedly caught in the act of manufacturing various types of firecrackers without sans permits.

Recovered from Mendoza were 700 pieces of no stick kwitis, 500 pieces of Jumbo gold fountain, 28 pieces of unfinished sputnik silver fountain, one piece of 2 layer pagoda and assorted firecracker wrappers with a total estimated market value of P15,700.

Appropriate charges for violations of Sec. 4, 5, 7 and 8 of RA 7183 are being readied against the suspect for court referral.

“Our crackdown on illegal manufacturing, using and selling of prohibited firecrackers in Central Luzon is unrelenting. We continue to appeal to the public to report related illegal activities to ensure a safe celebration of the holiday season,” Pasiwen said.
