Knee issue hampers Adiwang’s cage comeback

LITO Adiwang was forced to pull out of his cage return on Jan. 14 in ONE Fight Night 6 against Masnur Malachiev at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand after feeling pain in his surgically repaired knee.

After feeling discomfort in his knee in training for his upcoming fight at the Team Lakay Gym, the 29-year-old Adiwang went back to his doctor to have his knee re-evaluated. His physician advised him to rest for 60 days, forcing him to pull out of the fight.

“It’s heartbreaking that I have to break a promise to my father to fight this January. Also (sorry) to our fans and supporters who are eager and excited to watch me back in action,” said Adiwang. “My mind is 1,000 percent ready to go to war but suddenly, my knee is not cooperating and it’s getting worse when I try to push it hard for training. As per my doctor’s advice, I’ll give it some time to recover and continue my therapy to strengthen it.”

Adiwang was eager to return to the cage and dedicated his upcoming fight to his father Crisantio, who recently died.

Adiwang tore his ACL in the second round of his fight with Jeremy Miado last March 26 in Singapore.

He has a record of 13 wins and five losses with seven knockout victories and four submissions.
