THER National Housing Authority distributed a total of P270,000 financial assistance to nine families in the Province of Guimaras whose houses were damaged and destroyed by fire.
The distribution of assistance was conducted on January 6, 2023, at the Capitol Food Court in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
Six of the beneficiaries were from the Municipality of Buenavista where five of the victims lost their houses in a fire incident that occurred last year in Barangay Sto. Rosario.
Three of the beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Jordan, Nueva Valencia and San Lorenzo, respectively.
The distribution of the cash grants is under the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (Ehap) of the National Housing Authority.
Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD expressed gratitude to the NHA for the assistance given to the Guimarasnons who have been victims of calamities.
The governor hopes that the cash aid will help those who lost their homes to start over.
According to Provincial Administrator Emmanuel Galila, the said amount can augment to the livelihood of the victims.
He said that even though the amount of aid given is not enough to recover what they have lost, what is important is that there is a government agency like NHA that is ready to help the victims of the calamity.
The NHA requested those who received cash assistance to use the money to purchase materials to rebuild their house instead of spending it on other things. (PR)
