Cops nab coast guard, 2 plumbers in anti-drug sting

A PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) personnel and two plumbers were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Sunday, January 8, 2022.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspects as Seaman First Class (SN1) Bernabe Delin, Jr., 32, and plumbers Gilbert Johnston, Jr., 53, and Edgar Maghinay, 32.

Delin, who is assigned with the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao, is listed as newly identified but high-value individual and both Johnston and Maghinay are in the anti-drug watch list of the ZCPO.

Lorenzo said they were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation around 4 p.m. Saturday, January 7, in Cabatangan village, Zamboanga City.

He said seized from the arrested suspects were some 1.71 grams of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth P11,628, three pieces P1,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P500 bill as marked money and a keypad cellular phone.

Lorenzo said they were detained at the ZCPO’s Station 7 while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
