TWO-TIME Philippine National Games finalist Marco Pomar, unbeaten prospect Carlo Bacaro and former ALA Boy Elmo Traya lead the undercard of “Prime Fight 2: Melindo vs. Buatkrathok” on Jan. 11, 2023 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The 25-year-old Pomar squares off with fellow up-and-comer Alvin Camique in an eight-rounder.

After suffering a first-round technical knockout in the hands of Rhezon Tarona, Pomar is on an impressive run, winning his last three fights. He’s coming off a first-round knockout of Belmar Plaza on Nov. 5 2022, in Talisay City.

Pomar has fought some of the best boxing prospects at the amateur level. He has shared the ring with 2020 Japan Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam and world rated Regie Suganob twice.

The 25-year-old Camique is also a hot prospect, but his career just hit a roadblock after suffering his first career defeat, a unanimous decision defeat to Ramil Macado last Aug. 7 in Sibonga.

Pomar is 4-1 with two knockouts, while Camique is 4-1 with a knockout.

Bacaro, who fights out of the Omega Boxing Gym, faces one of his stiffest tests against former World Boxing Council (WBC) International super featherweight champion Ryan Sermona.

Bacaro has been impressive in his budding career thus far. His last fight was seven months ago, wherein he won a technical decision over Jimmy Borbon.

Sermona dropped his last two contests, losing to Indonesian Rivo Kundimang and Jhunrick Carcedo.

Bacaro is 9-0 with six knockouts, while 21-11-1 with 14 knockouts.

Traya, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back after suffering a second-round knockout at the hands of 19-year-old Thai sensation Phoobadin Yoohanngoh. He’ll be up against unheralded Edsil Jungco.

Traya is 12-4 with eight knockouts, while Jungco is 3-14-7.

In the main event, former world champion Milan Melindo (38-5, 14 KOs) locks horns with Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok (38-7, 25 KOs) for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Silver featherweight belt.

Unbeaten former amateur standout Kit Ceron Garces (5-0, 4 KOs) takes on Noli James Maquilan (4-1, 3 KOs) in the main supporting bout.

Also in the undercard, Ken Albert Bilita (1-0) faces off with John Rey Labajo; John Ver Espra (1-2, 1 KO) trades leathers with John Mark Henchanova (0-1-1); and Kier Torregosa (1-2-1, 1 KO) is up against Henry Flor (0-2).

Before the pro bouts, there will 10 amateur bouts that features some of the most promising Cebuano prospects.

Popular Cebuano Youtuber “Badboy ng Cebu” is also seeing action in a special attraction bout.

Tickets for the show are already available at the Prime Fight Gym in Talisay City and at the CCSC. Prices of the tickets are P1,500 for VIP, P1,000 for Upper Box, P500 for Upper Box B, P100 for Upper Box C and P50 for general admission.
