MOST Filipinos are proud to support our very own Miss Universe Philippines 2022, Celeste Cortesi, in her quest for the 71st Miss Universe crown set to seize the universe on January 14, 2023, in New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Louisiana, New Orleans.

Miss Universe candidates worldwide will compete for the prestigious crown, which the 70th Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu of India, will bestow to the next queen of the universe.

This writer asked some individuals she considers to have a high appreciation of beauty, wardrobes, styles, and pageantry.

They have their respective views on how they regarded the Miss U PH candidate when she went on the international stage and hooked everyone on screen with her national costume, which female superheroine Darna popularized in the 70s.

Without a doubt, Miss Cortesi has wowed her countrymen when she walked on stage with that Darna-inspired national costume during the preliminary competition of the 71st Miss Universe pageant.

Bamboo Tonogbanua, a renowned Bacolod artist and designer, said, “She got the looks of a promising beauty. I’m proud of her as a Filipina. I really love her national costume patterned from Darna.”

Dwight Rosslyn A. Morana, Jr., founder and director of the Negros Fashion Fest, said, “Miss Cortesi was stunning. Her body proportion, aura, and performance during the prelims made her stand out. She is a strong contender for the crown. Her swimsuit was remarkable, her gown performance was great, and the ‘Darna-inspired’ ensemble during the national costume brilliantly showcased the country’s pop culture.”

Rhea Kris Mejorada-Macabante, a beauty titlist as Miss Hiyas sang Lubay-Lubay Cauayan

and Miss Nursing, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod said, “As a fan of beauty pageants especially Ms. Universe, Silvia Celeste Cortesi will surely make the Philippines proud once again. She’s definitely nailing it! Bring home that crown, our Darna!”

Moreen Austria, a visual artist and art writer said, “I wish that she will always make this platform (beauty pageants) a venue for kindness and a reason for people to believe in the good of humanity.”

Joey McQueen, a Negrense who loves fashion and is currently based in 12 Apostles, Melbourne, Australia, said, “she did a great job! She is very regal and already a winner for me and is definitely prepared for the crown. She had a great choice of wardrobes. I’m rooting for her victory in this year’s Miss Universe competition.”

Kate Montecarlo Cordova, a PRIDE of Bacolod and a beauty titlist in Miss Gay Philippines’ 5 prettiest competition and other pageant competitions, shared her views that “Miss Cortesi has a big chance for her to get the crown. This year will bring her good result in her quest for the crown. I wish her victory in this year’s Miss Universe competition.”

Furthermore, let’s root and pray for her victory in today’s (January 14) Miss Universe pageant.
