SM City Tarlac donates Bears of Joy to children with special needs

CLARK FREEPORT SM City Tarlac continues to celebrate the season of gift-giving by distributing a total of 500 SM Bears of Joy to a children’s home in Tarlac City.

St. Joseph Home for Special Children, Inc., Apostolate Directress Sr. Leoncia V. Mateo, O.P., received the toys and thanked the mall for its donations.

Mateo said the bears will be shared to their partner organizations.

"Toys and bears are great therapy for our children, most especially for the ones who could not speak or see", she said.

Aside from the toys, SM City Tarlac also donated cash to the children’s home.

“Last year, we started a holiday countdown campaign by featuring local products in the mall in partnership with [Department of Trade and Industry]-Tarlac. A portion of the profit from this project goes to our chosen beneficiary", Assistant Mall Manager Engineer Lou Samson said.

The SM Bears of Joy project started in 2012, while the SM Supermalls’ holiday countdown campaign is now in its second year.
