Oro mayor in favor of City Hall transfer proposal

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy is in favor of the proposal of the 20th City Council to transfer the City Hall to a better location.

According to the city mayor, the transfer of the entire City Hall will be beneficial to the public, citing City Councilor Edgar Cabanlas' observation about the inconvenience of the current City Hall location to the city's business owners and taxpayers.

Uy referred to the difficulty of the business owners and taxpayers in finding parking space at the City Hall during the ongoing business registration and renewal of business permits.

The city mayor said in his first six months of service, he received several complaints from visitors and investors about how they took a long time looking for a parking space.

Uy further cited the damage sustained by the car owned by City Housing Urban and Development Department Chief Joeffrey Namalata after he hit some wood while trying to find a parking space.

The City Council, for its part, presented suggestions on what the City Government could do with the old City Hall buildings after the transfer.

Councilor George Goking said the City Hall could tap into other resources to find the transfer. City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual also suggested that the location site for the City Hall should have adequate commercial space so as to attract several businesses.
