THE Talisay City Council has already approved the P440,000 budget for the purchase of tents for the barangays.

Councilor Ferdinand Rabaya, chairman of the Committee on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, said the budget has been approved based on the request of the barangay officials.

The money, which will be taken from the Mayor’s Special Project Fund, will be used to purchase tents that will be distributed to the city’s 11 barangays in the first quarter of 2023.

The remaining 11 barangays will also receive the same type of items in the second quarter of this year but this has to undergo another budget deliberation.

Rabaya said all the barangays already have their own tents but some of these were damaged during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, while others worn out with age.

All the city’s 22 barangays are also equipped with chairs and tables courtesy of the Talisay City Government.

These equipment are used in the barangays’ activities and are also borrowed by some residents for the wake of their departed loved one and other occasions such as birthday and wedding parties. (BBT/TPT)
