DAMAGE to agriculture in Negros Occidental due to heavy rains brought by the shear line and low pressure area (LPA) last week reached to P30,465,965 based on the report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).
The report said that damage to rice fields was at P29,774,965 while damage to high-value commercial crops was at P553,000.
Damage to cornfields was estimated at P136,800.
Bago City topped the list with P13.3 million, followed by Valladolid with P5.5 million worth of damage.
Escalante City’s crop damage, meanwhile, was estimated at P3 million, followed by Cadiz City and the town of Cauayan at P1.9 million, San Enrique town with P1 million, Candoni - P547,475, Silay City - P411,383, and La Carlota City at P411,383.
