TROOPS recovered two high-powered firearms during their focused-military operations in Sitio Andap, Barangay Mahaba in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur on January 18, 2023.

According to the 75th Infantry Battalion (75IB), they were able to seize the arms cache, which contained two 7.62 AK47 rifles and five magazines with 69 live ammunition, through the cooperation of a former rebel who surrendered to them.

Lieutenant Colonel Jelson Buyuccan, the commanding officer of 75IB, expressed his appreciation to the former rebel and the troops for their dedication to "attain inclusive peace and sustainable development," particularly to the former conflict-affected areas and far-flung communities in Surigao del Sur.

“The 75IB and the different government agencies are in collaboration towards the campaign to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (Elcac)," Buyuccan said.

"I wish to convey the government’s message of reconciliation to the remaining members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), there is still a chance to lay down your arms and return to the folds of law. Avail the Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) and live a peaceful life together with your family," he added.
