7-Eleven Run ‘23 gun fires off on Feb 4-5

IT’S all systems go for 7-Eleven Run 2023 edition with around 7,000 to 8,000 participants expected to join for its Davao City leg starting at the SM City Davao.

The nationwide simultaneous run, which will be held in three key cities in the Philippines, namely Cebu City, Davao City, and Manila on February 4-5, has an overall target of 40,000 runners.

Race categories include 42k, 32k, 21k,16k, 10k individual, 10k buddy, 5k, and 3k. Participating runners may win as high as P25,000 cash prize with free giveaways from 7-Eleven and its sponsors.

The race will officially begin at 11 p.m. of Feb. 4 starting off with the 42K category. While the starting gun for the 32K will be at 12 a.m. The 21K will be at 2 a.m. of February 5, 16K at 4 a.m., 10K at 4:30 a.m., 5K at 5:45 a.m., and 3K run at 6:30 a.m.

The male and female 42K race champions will each receive P25,000, while the runners-up will receive P20,000 and P15,000, respectively. The top three finishers in the 32K will receive cash prizes of P22,000, P17,000, and P12,000, respectively, while the top three finishers in the 21K will receive P20,000, P15,000, and P10,000.

“[One of the goals of the event is] ire-regain po natin yung confidence ng mga runners (we will regain the confidence of the runners) to do physical run again after two years of pandemic ,” said Josephine Carreras, category manager for the 7-Eleven run.

The Davao City event launching on January 20 was led by 7-Eleven Mindanao regional business unit manager Gil Abad, running event organizer Thomas Tan, event project head Michelle Saludes, Davao City Sports Office chief Mikey Aportadera, and members of runners clubs. Also present in the event are members of DCPO led by City Operations Officer Michael Seguido, Central 911 staff, and travel and athlete vloggers.

“We’ve been long prepared po for the security plan and the event, kay may earlier coordination man (because there is an earlier coordination from the event organizers),” Seguido said.

“Likewise sa PNP (Philippine National Police) and CTTMO (City Transport and Traffic Management Office), we have also the commitment of our Central 911 just to ensure may mga responses din tayo in terms of kanang mga need og medical assistance (that we have immediate response in terms of medical assistance),” Seguido added.
