MAJOR General Roy Galido, newly installed commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), has ordered all the unit commanders of Westmincom to remain steadfast in fulfilling their respective mission.

Galido issued the order during his first command conference after assuming on Friday, January 20, as the new commander of Westmincom replacing his academy classmate, Major General Arturo Rojas.

In attendance were the commanders of all the Joint Task Forces and brigades under the command and control of Westmincom as well as all the members of the unified command staff.

The command conference was held at the conference room of Westmincom headquarters at Camp Don Basilio Navarro, Zamboanga City.

During the conference, the intelligence and operations officers of Westmincom presented the current threat situation and campaign accomplishment and assessment of Westmincom.

Based on the report, Westmincom is on track to clear all communist terrorist group-affected areas.

Sixty percent of its target guerilla fronts were successfully dismantled in 2022 and the others are already weakened.

Westmincom also neutralized a total of 29 local terrorists in the last quarter of 2022. Of the number, six were Abu Sayyaf bandits, 20 were Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, and three were Dawlah Islamiyah members.

Galido also reminded them to maintain a high level of professionalism and discipline.

“We will continue to exhaust our resources to ensure mission accomplishment and we will strengthen our relationship with our partners and stakeholders as well as our friends from the peace-inclined groups to achieve our common goal,” Galido said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
