Pampanga execs honor Duterte

CLARK FREEPORT Officials of Pampanga province has honored former President Rodrigo Duterte for his legacy.

The provincial government, headed by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, hosted honor rites for the former president for his service to the people.

Pineda presented a resolution declaring the Duterte as “Adopted Son of the Province of Pampanga.”

The tribute is in recognition of the Duterte's support to the province during his six-year term as president of the country.

“Ang pamahalaang panlalawigan po ay nagpapasalamat kay dating Pangulong Duterte para sa mga programa’t proyekto na kanyang ibinigay sa Lalawigan ng Pampanga at mga Kapampangan noong siya ay nanunungkulan pa bilang pangulo ng ating bansa,” said Pineda.

The governor cited some of the significant programs provided by the former president to the province.

These include the new passenger terminal in Clark, PNR Clark Phase 2, OFW Hospital in San Fernando, P210-million fund for the construction of the Pampanga Provicial Hospital-Clark, P300-million fund for the Provincial Hospital in Apalit, P4-billion fund for the Pampanga Southern Bypass Road connecting the Municipalities of Sto. Tomas, Minalin, Guagua, Sasmuan, and Lubao, five dialysis centers, and P50-million DHVSU Administrative Building.

Pineda also mentioned various COVID-19 programs that benefitted millions of Kapampangans, such as the isolation facilities in Mexico and Lubao, COVID-19 vaccines administered to approximately 2.2-million Kapampangans, financial assistance for 641,168 indigent families, and temporary employment for 108,481 TUPAD beneficiaries.

“Thank you for adopting me as the son of Pampanga. It is a great honor, really. Ako naman ay nagtatrabaho lang,” said Duterte.

Senator Bong Go was also recognized, through Resolution No. 7643-A, for promoting the welfare and interest of the Province of Pampanga.

“Sa abot ng aking makakaya, ipagpapatuloy ko ang mga programang nakatutulong sa mga mahihirap. Mahal po namin kayo ni Pang. Duterte,” Go said.

Some 752 personalities attended the event, including former president, now Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Congresswoman Anna York, Vice Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda, 1st District Board Members Benny Jocson and Winwin Garbo, 2nd District Board Members Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, Fritzie David-Dizon, and Sajid Khan Eusoof, 3rd District Board Members Atty. Jun Canlas, Mika Gonzales, and Lucky Labung, 4th District Board Members Pol Balingit and Nelson Calara, ex-officio Board Members Cherry Manalo and Gabby Mutuc.
