STARTING January 2023, the focal person of each Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) in Talisay City will receive a P1,000 monthly honorarium from the City Government.

However, the amount will only be released every quarter, which means they will each receive P3,000 every three months.

City Councilor Gail Restauro, committee on peace and order and public safety chairperson, said the amount was approved during the City Council’s session on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023.

“It was the mayor’s instruction to provide them with an honorarium. The tanods and the lupons already have theirs,” Restauro said in Cebuano.

Lawaan 2 Barangay Captain Frederick Marababol, in a separate interview, welcomed the development.

He said the focal person of the Badac deserves the additional income.

In his barangay, he said, the focal person receives a monthly honorarium of P6,500. However, the amount varies in every barangay.

“It will depend on the availability of funds. Our barangay council already approved the amount. In fact, the focal person already holds a plantilla position,” Marababol said in Cebuano. (BBT / PJB)
