Santa Rita gets P480T for negokart program

SANTA RITA The municipal government here received a P480,000 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the implementation of the Negosyo sa Kariton (NegoKarts) livelihood program.

The program was made possible through the efforts of the local government and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, otherwise known as "DILEEP.”

Mayor Arthur Salalila and other town officials received the cheque on Monday.

The program is expected to benefit ambulant vendors, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and other residents from sectors to be identified by the town.

Under the project, ambulant vendors will be assisted in their livelihood towards profitable and sustainable businesses.

This will make their income level at par with that of the minimum wage earners.

The Nego-Kart project will provide ambulant vendors services that would enable them to increase, upgrade and diversify their products and services.
