THE Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is investigating separate reports of landslide or mass movements in three areas in the city.

In a Facebook post, CDRRMO said it has received multiple reports of mass movement on January 27, 2023.

Around 1 a.m., a mass movement occurred in Malabog-Paquibato Road, Purok Orchids, Brgy. Paquibato Proper, Paquibato District. Both road lanes are only passable to light vehicles.

In Sitio Logdeck, Brgy. Malabog, Paquibato District, the mass movement affected two road lanes covered by debris and only passable to light vehicles.

Meanwhile, in Purok Pangyan, Barangay Tamugan, Marilog District, a mass movement has affected a section of the Pangyan Road and is not passable to all types of vehicles.

The road collapsed in Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Megkawayan, Calinan District, and is not passable to all types of vehicles.

CDRRMO already coordinated with local barangays to install early warning signages, such as caution tapes. The Barangays were also advised to restrict four-wheeled vehicles from passing through the areas to avoid untoward incidents.

According to the agency, the City Engineer's Office was informed of the incidents for immediate and appropriate actions.

SunStar Davao reached out to CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran for additional information, but he has not responded as of writing.

In a separate interview, said the recent landslides were caused by continuous rain experienced in the previous days due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA).

Baloran also said that people living near mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned river systems and the Local Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to be on alert for possible flash floods and landslides. RGL
