LAWMEN have arrested in separate law enforcement operations two of the most wanted persons in Zamboanga Peninsula and in the country, the police reported Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Arrested were Jomare Joyel, 27, charged for rape and Faisal Kasim Isnain, who is facing charges for murder and rape, the police said.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula said Joyel was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of warrant of arrest

around 5:15 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Purok Azucena in Danan village, Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police said Joyel is the number one most wanted person in the region and has pending warrant of arrest for the crime of rape with no

recommended bail issued by the court of Cavite date November 9, 2015.

The arrested suspect was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Unit for proper disposition.

Isnain, who is being sought by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and offering P200,000 cash reward for his arrest, was arrested while hiding for four years in a remote island town in Tawi-Tawi province.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, said Isnain was arrested around 4:21 p.m.

Saturday, January 28, in Lupa Pula, Mapun.

Mapun is an island municipality in the Sulu Sea on the south-western extreme of the Philippines, located very close to Malaysia as well as

to Palawan.

Verceles said that Isnain has standing warrant of arrest for the crimes of murder and rape with no recommended bail issued by the court of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay dated August 13, 2018.

“Isnain is a native Visaya of Bacalan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and escape to the island of Mapun Tawi-Tawi after committing the crime of rape and murder,” Verceles said.

He said that Isnain is a national most wanted person and DILG-listed personality with monetary reward amounting to P200,000.

The suspect is temporarily detained at the Mapun Municipal Police Station for documentation and subsequent for transfer to Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. (SunStar Zamboanga)
