Foreign national nabbed for P10-M worth of ketamine

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Operatives from at least five anti-crime agencies led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday arrested a foreign national for allegedly claiming two kilos of ketamine worth P10-million during a controlled delivery operation in Pasig City.

The suspect, believed to be a Malaysian-Chinese, was identified as one Thai Lian Shiong, 24, single, and a resident of The Currency Residences, Julia Vargas, Ortigas, Pasig City.

The controlled delivery operation carried out by agents of PDEA Pampanga, PDEA NCR, PDEA Calabarzon, Clark International Airport Drug Inter-Agency Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, National Bureau of Investigan (NBI) Central Luzon, NBI Pampanga and the local police.

The P10-million worth of ketamine was discovered inside three acupoint massage twisters when the package arrived from allegedly Malaysia at the Port of Clark on January 28, 2023.

Ketamine, an anesthetic to induce loss of consciousness, is used as a recreational drug.

Along with the 24 pieces of transparent plastic pouches weighing about two kilos of the illegal substance, authorities also confiscated one cellular phone.

A charge for violation of section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the arrested claimant/consignee.
