THE fruit vendor whose neck was slashed by her live-in partner in downtown Cebu City on January 30, 2023 can now move a little, said police.
Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operation of the Cebu City Police Office, said the 54-year-old Bernardita Zamora is now recuperating in the hospital.
“So far, sa coordination sa atong station commander, Police Major Henry Orbiso, with the family, gi-obserbaran pa ang pasyente. Eventually, naa nani karon sa stable condition but as of now, giingnan sila nga maka lihok na gamay but as to sa stability sa condition, we cannot ascertain yet,” Rafter said.
(So far, station commander Police Major Henry Orbiso’s coordination with the family revealed that the patient is still being observed, but eventually, she will be in a stable condition. Right now, though, they were told that she can move a little, but as to the stability of her condition, we could not ascertain yet.)

Zamora’s attacker and live-in partner, Edwin Salazar Lumacad, has already been charged with frustrated murder in relation to Republic Act 9262, or Violence Against Women and Children, on Wednesday, February 1.
Lumacad expressed regret for his actions and maintained his hope of reconciling with Zamora.
He said he was willing to accept the punishment he deserves. (AYB/TPT)
