EMPLOYEES of Cebu City Hall will undergo trainings and get lectures about Singapore so they will have an idea of Mayor Michael Rama’s vision of emulating the very rich island nation and city-state.

The City’s Human Resources Development Office (HRDO) will begin the training for the first batch of employees in March 2023.

A report from the Public Information Office on Friday, Feb. 3, said the program is in response to the request of the City Council to provide training and seminars to city employees on the culture and history of Singapore.

Last August, Councilor Francis Esparis authored the resolution urging the HRDO to come up with programs to support Rama’s Singapore-like vision for the city.

He said the training should highlight how Singapore transformed from a poor, underdeveloped country into one of the world’s most prosperous nations.

He said it is important that City Hall employees are able to articulate or understand the mayor’s vision.

Once they do, the official hopes the rest of the public will follow.

HRDO head Remedios Mondigo said they will outsource speakers to conduct the trainings.

As of September, City Hall had 1,367 regular employees, 3,433 casual employees and 2,263 job order employees.
