ANOTHER two most wanted persons were arrested in separate police operations in Cebu this week.
The suspects were identified as Japsy Villuna, 25, who hails from Barangay Lamac, Pinamungajan town, midwest Cebu; and Benson Mahipos Borinaga, 35, a resident of Sitio Tubod, Barangay Sapangdaku, Cebu City.
Borinaga also owns a house in Barangay Sudlon, Cebu City.
Villuna and Borinaga were identified as the number 2 and 3 most wanted in Cebu, respectively.
Villuna, who was charged with statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness, was taken into custody at his home at 4:26 p.m. Monday, February 6, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Judilyn Hugo Tapia Menchavez of Toledo City Regional Trial Court Branch 8 on January 7, 2023.
Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret, chief of CIDG Cebu City Field Unit, said they immediately served the warrant against Villuna after receiving information that he was attending a fiesta celebration in their barangay.
The court allows him to post P200,000 for his other case even though no bail bond has been suggested for the statutory rape.
Borinaga, on the other hand, was arrested for murder in his house in Sudlon at 7:38 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, based on a warrant issued by Judge Estela Alma Singco-Caruso of Regional Trial Court Branch 12 of Cebu City on September 27, 2021. No bail bond has been recommended.
Both operations were carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cebu City Field Unit.
Korret said they monitored Borinaga’s movements for two weeks.
After getting confirmation that he would travel to the mountain to visit his relatives, they then launched the operation with the Cebu City Mobile Force Company.
Korret said Borinaga was identified as the one who shot dead Louie delos Angeles during the 2018 Sinulog festival in Sitio Tubod, Barangay Sapangdaku.
Glen Borinaga, who allegedly helped him commit the crime, passed away last year for an undetermined reason.
On Monday, the most wanted person in Cebu who is facing two counts of rape was also arrested by the police in Barangay Anislag, Pinamungajan town, midwest Cebu.
Police identified the suspect Tiofnes Quia-ot alyas Panis, 52, a widower and resident of the said place. (AYB/TPT)
