City of San Fernando The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently brought fresh agricultural products to Barangay Dela Paz Norte here.
Through its “KADIWA on Wheels,” the program delivers low-cost products for consumers and promotes better income for farmers by directly providing ready-markets for their products.
The event was held along with the Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) of the DA and participating farmers’ cooperatives and associations.
Agri vendor Cindy Soriano said that the products sold in KADIWA programs show the disparity of usual market prices and those sold by local farmers and producers.
“Naka ceiling po kasi kami ng price kaya talagang mura. ‘Yung markup kasi sa palengke na sa 50 percent pataas, kami dito ang pinakamataas na markup ay na sa 20-30 percent lang kasama na ‘yung mga expenses,” Soriano said.
The project is aimed at harnessing private sector participation, capacity enhancement of farmer cooperatives and associations, and engaging community organizations’ participation in food supply distribution system.
The mobile market initiative program is expected to provide affordable, accessible, and healthy agri-fishery products to the consumer, especially during this time of the pandemic.
