THE Province of Guimaras has been cited again as one of the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping passers in Western Visayas, according to a report released by the Department of the Interior of Local Government on February 7, 2023.

Four municipalities of the province -- Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, and San Lorenzo -- also achieved the same feat.

Good Financial Housekeeping recognizes the practice of the local government units (LGUs) of financial transparency and accountability and instituted public reporting of the budget and expenditure of local governments.

All local governments in the country are assessed based on Accountable Governance, Transparent Governance, Frontline Service Performance, and Participatory Governance.

The criteria to pass the GFH include most recent COA Audit Opinion and compliance to the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) or the posting of financial documents in three conspicuous places and in the FDP portal.

All local governments in the country are assessed based on Accountable Governance, Transparent Governance, Frontline Service Performance, and Participatory Governance.

GFH is one of the factors being considered for an LGU to pass the first core area of SGLG which is Financial Administration.

For fiscal year 2022, 1,715 local government units were assessed and 1,450 have passed. (PR)
