Firm ramping up operations in PH, hiring Cebuano talents

EY GLOBAL Delivery Services (EY GDS) Philippines, a member of a growing integrated network of service delivery centers, is ramping up capabilities to support global EY stakeholders and strengthen the services to EY member firms around the world.

The company announced that it is actively recruiting talents in Cebu and nearby provinces in the Visayas, especially those looking to start or enrich their careers in areas of tax, assurance, strategy and transactions, and consulting.

“We see roles in EY Global Delivery Services (EY GDS) evolving as the industry also evolves and grows. We expect to continue hiring and keep ramping up operations in GDS Philippines,” said Nitin Dhavale, EY GDS Philippines location leader, in an email interview.

“The highly skilled workforce in Cebu helped commence new services in EY GDS Philippines and contributed to growth in the Philippines overall. We consider Cebu as our priority and we will continue to actively recruit talents in Cebu for opportunities within EY GDS service lines and functions, including technology roles,” he added.

The company, though, declined to disclose the number of people it will hire.

Workforce

EY GDS has over 5,000 experienced professionals located in regions across the Philippines.

EY GDS provides innovative and scalable business services to EY member firms. Strategic flexibility is the first of three essential ingredients of having a great workplace culture, the firm said.

“We already had a flexible ‘work where needed’ work culture even before the pandemic, and this has helped us successfully transition to remote working during the pandemic,” said Dhavale. “From an employee’s point of view, this flexibility has presented a sustainable opportunity to balance work and wellbeing.”

Besides strategic flexibility’s positive impact on individual wellbeing, it has exponentially improved collaboration at EY GDS as the company deepened its accommodation of a purposeful hybrid work setup.

“We provide our professionals with the right tools and technologies to help them work together virtually or in person. Reopening EY offices also offers employees another location to connect meaningfully and collaborate with teammates,” he added.

EY GDS provides personalized opportunities aligned to advancement, tech knowledge, learning and mentorship, and offers various programs that support a diverse and inclusive culture.

Internship and tech training

Recently, EY GDS Philippines launched campus programs with Cebu Institute of Technology – University and University of San Jose – Recoletos to offer internships and technology training for students interested in developing future-focused skills and pursuing careers in technology.

“Wherever they are located, we support EY employees to be intentional about their careers. We help enable them to seek the engagement, learning, skills, impact and leadership behaviors that will help them build the career they want and a better working world for themselves and others,” he said.

The third essential ingredient of a great workplace culture is cultivating and reinforcing a sense of belonging, to which a whole host of factors contribute, like avoiding micromanagement and facilitating open communication, transparency, and trust among leaders, peers, teams, and individuals. Encouraging wellness is also a crucial part of this endeavor.

“These factors give our employees a real sense of ownership over their careers. And when they feel that they belong to the organization and the organization belongs to them, it makes for a great workplace,” Dhavale said.
