Low Covid-19 cases in Oro may be due to refusal to undergo testing

THE recent decline in Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro is caused by the city residents' refusal to undergo testing, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Teodulfo Retuya Jr. said.

According to Retuya, the continuous drop in the number of Covid-positive cases in Cagayan de Oro is not an indication that the virus has vanished as no one is undergoing testing and there may be those who are infected that opted not to be tested.

As of February 7, the cumulative Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro is at 27,911, with no new cases recorded. The number of recovered Covid-positive patients is 26,932 while the total active cases is 10, eight of which are admitted while two are currently at the city's temporary treatment and monitoring facility.

City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, for his part, reminded the public to complete their vaccination and continue observing the minimum health protocols.
