Waterfront celebrates the Year of the Water Rabbit

CHINESE New Year is a significant event that is celebrated by families with strong Chinese influences, including Filipinos. The holiday is a time to ring in a new year filled with prosperity and good luck.

One of the important elements of Chinese New Year is Tikoy, or Nian Gao, a glutinous rice cake that symbolizes prosperity in the coming year. Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino offers this treat in various flavors, including almond, brown sugar, pandan and ube, at its lobby Tikoy booth and Tin Gow restaurant.

Tin Gow restaurant also offers Yee Sang, a ceremonial dish that represents prosperity, good luck, great health and all things auspicious during Chinese New Year. This year’s Yee Sang was available in prawn, salmon and abalone, making it perfect for celebratory lunches and dinners with the family.

The celebration at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino culminated with a dragon and lion dance on Jan. 21. The hotel also hosted a Yee Sang ceremony led by Chef Low in the grand lobby on Jan. 22, complete with the traditional dragon and lion dance throughout the hotel.
