Farmer, construction worker nabbed in Zamboanga anti-drug stings



A FARMER and a construction worker were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte provinces, the police reported Sunday, February 12, 2023.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula report identified the arrested suspects as Jamil Macondara, 37, a farmer; and, Arnold Franca, 37, a construction worker.

The police said that Macondara was arrested by joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) team in a buy-bust operation around 9:25 p.m. Saturday, February 11, at Purok Osmeña in Curvada village, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

Recovered from the suspect were some 1.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P10,200 packed in six heat-sealed plastic sachets and P500 marked money.

The police said that Franca was arrested in another buy-bust operation around 11:24 p.m. Friday, February 10, in Turno village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Confiscated from the suspect were some three grams of suspected shabu worth P20,400 packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets, P1,000 marked money, a cellular phone, and illegal drug paraphernalia.

The police said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
