P8.6M worth of shabu seized in Cebu City in 24-hour operations

UP TO P17.2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) during a simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation (Sacleo) that started midnight Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, and ended 24 hours later.

It conducted 128 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 167 drug personalities.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) seized the biggest amount of shabu weighing at more than one kilo with a standard drug price of around P8.6 million.

According to CCPO Director Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, they received the consolidated report from the 11 police stations in the city.

He said the illegal drugs may have come from Manila and other regions.

Aside from illegal drugs, 268 illegal gamblers were arrested and 426 illegal gambling paraphernalia were confiscated.

The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) conducted the most anti-illegal gambling operations.

Maj. Reslyn Abella, CPPO information officer, lamented that despite intensifying their drive against illegal gambling, especially against tigbakay, or illegal cockfight, many persons continue to engage in the activity.

During the Sacleo, police also arrested 174 wanted persons and confiscated 187 unlicensed firearms. (AYB / PJB)
