CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Over one kilo of suspected illegal drugs concealed inside the rims of three wheelchair casters were recently intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) - Port of Clark.
The BOC discovered the illegal drugs in a shipment said to contain a “mini/sumatic wheelchair caster” which arrived on January 13 from Tanzania, East Africa.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) examined the shipment which resulted in the discovery of the illegal substance.
A total of 1,187.1 grams of suspected cocaine worth P6,291,630 were seized by the BOC personnel.
The Port of Clark immediately issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the shipment for violating Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 par. f, i & l (3 & 4) of R.A. No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165.
BoC Clark Collector John Simon said that the port’s border protection measures and consistent coordination with PDEA have effectively prevented illegal drugs from entering the borders.
He added that the Port of Clark would remain vigilant on the various modes of concealment used in trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the country.
