Dear Dr. Fritz,

Good day. Please call me Jo Pain. I am a smoker and I do really want to stop smoking. I have tried some ways. But, I do still find myself on this vice. So, I hope you can tell me the best way to really quit smoking. Do nicotine patches really work?

Thank you and more power.

Dear Jo Pain,

I understand your situation. Quitting smoking is not easy because of the effect of nicotine. The cravings due to nicotine will be enough to make you feel sick. You would have to have a lot of patience and self-discipline so you can get through these challenges that could really be tough. As a matter of fact, the US surgeon general had declared that nicotine is an addictive drug similar to other addictive substances, like cocaine, heroin, and alcohol, in its ability to make you dependent on it.

The truth is; there are a lot of smoking cessation methods that you can choose from. There are

also scores of books and products available to help you get through the difficult process of quitting this dangerous vice. But, no matter how countless they may be, you have to choose what works for you. Of course, you can try every one of them. But, focus and commit to what is best for you.

Well, as much as there are more issues to talk about, then, let me finish this in my next issue. Until then!

Dr. Fritz
