A FAMILY dog survived after he was shot by the neighbor of his owner in their home at Greenplains Subd., Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City on Monday, February 20.

The dog, a six-year-old Siberian husky named Skittles, was found bloodied by the daughter of his human, Eduardo Libo-on, across the street from a restaurant, whose owner allegedly shot their pet animal.

Libo-on said that their dog was friendly and not a violent breed.

"I left him leashed in a cage, then went to the public market. He must have seen a dog from outside the house as he managed to free himself and escape the cyclone fence," Libo-on, who is also a purok president, said Tuesday night, February 21.

He said that they brought Skittles immediately to the veterinarian for an operation.

A bullet from a .45 caliber pistol was extracted from the dog.

Right now, Skittles is admitted to the veterinary hospital.

Libo-on said they had the incident blottered at the police station, and they are planning to file a case against their neighbor.

He recalled that more than two months ago, the dog had also escaped their house.

When they went looking for their pet, they encountered one of the neighbors who denied seeing his dog.

"But then I called his name, ‘Skittles, Skittles,' and he heard it and came running from this neighbor’s house," Libo-on said.

He said they have yet to settle his hospital bill so Skittles can come home.
