FOUR individuals were injured following a car crash along the National Highway in Barangay Yati, Liloan, Cebu past 3 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Seaman Franklin Ferrer, 57, was driving a Nissan Navarra with his wife, Romualda, 57, a man named Roberto Tibay, and another male individual as passengers when they crashed headfirst into a concrete barrier.

Patrolman Jicliff Guilaran, investigator of the Liloan Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that the seafarer did not notice the concrete barrier because the area was dark and unlit.

Ferrer said it was very dark in the area, making it difficult for him to see the barriers along the highway and he was not familiar with the road as well.

The vehicle was flipped over upon impact.

Ferrer and his wife were brought to a private hospital in Mandaue while Tibay was brought to a hospital in Danao.

The unidentified passenger reportedly was not harmed in the incident.

Guilaran said the area has long been prone to accidents because it is unlit.

Motorists traveling at night have difficulties traversing this part of the highway and multiple accidents have already been recorded.

Guilaran was not able to provide the number of incidents in the area. (GPL/DCL)
