Ethan Jervey Dayne Chavez, a Grade 9 student of St. Scholastica’s Academy, Hanah Taekwondo Academy mainstay, and a former international bronze medalist, has been selected again by the

Philippine Taekwondo Association to be part of the national taekwondo team set to participate in the upcoming 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships on March 10–12 at the Ayala Malls by the Bay, Parañaque City, Metro Manila.

Chavez will be given another shot to get a gold medal in an international competition after settling for a bronze medal in the Asian Cadet Championships held in Vietnam last year.

"I am religiously following the training given to me by my coaches and the diet provided to me by my nutritionist. I will be doing my best come competition time and praying that God will give me the strength and wisdom I need to beat all of my opponents," Chavez said.

Chavez’s coach, Vic Feria, also a coach at Hanah Taekwondo Academy, said that Chavez's strength and conditioning are his top priorities for now, as the international competition requires an athlete to play multiple games in a day, which will be exhausting for most of the participants.

He added that he is very proud that Chavez has been selected again to participate in international competitions and hopes that his other students also emulate what he does and that they too will be selected for the National Taekwondo Team.* (PR)
