AUTHORITIES seized two suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) inside liquor bottles at a house in Gandara, Samar Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Through a search warrant for alleged violation of Republic Act 9516, or the Illegal Possession of Explosive, police conducted search and seizure operation at the house of the suspect, identified as Darwin Maasin in Purok 4 of Barangay Napalisan, Gandara around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
However, Maasin was not around when the police confiscated the suspected IEDs, according to the police.
The operatives said a copy of the “Certificate of Orderly Searched and Receipt/Inventory of Property Seized” was received and signed by the Barangay Captain Randy Orcales.
The representative of the subject of search warrant, in the person of Barangay Kagawad Jimmy Maasin, also received and acknowledged the search warrant, police said in the report.
According to the police, the operatives used an “alternative recording device” for the whole duration of the operation, which ended around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
The confiscated items were brought to Gandara Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
