Oro LGU, Relief International to collab on demand and evidence generation

AN INTERNATIONAL nonprofit organization is set to collaborate with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro in generating the data needed to help identify the cause of the recent low immunization coverage in the city.

Relief International recently presented their project, the Risk Communication and Community Engagement Technical Support to Last Mile Covid-19 Vaccination and Routine Immunization, to City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy.

The project is in partnership with United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) and United States Agency for International Development (USAid).

Cagayan de Oro is one of the identified intervention areas in Northern Mindanao, the other being Iligan City.

According to Jose EG Michael Lacre, communications for development specialist of Relief International, they will be providing technical support to the City Health Office (CHO). These include capacity-building, social mobilization, updating the demand generation plans of the CHO and providing communication materials and public awareness raising for Covid-19 vaccination and routine immunization.

"Generally, more on the demand and evidence generation ang among ginabuhat. We go to the communities in partnership with the CHO para ma-capture ang mga insights and feedback from the communities and also encourage them to get vaccinated and to follow the protocols nga ginahatag sa DOH (Department of Health) and CHO," Lacre said.
