Nearly 4K get cash, farm materials from 4 agencies

CLOSE to 4,000 people received cash, groceries and farming materials from several government agencies Monday, Feb. 27, 2023.

This as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and Department of Agriculture (DA) conducted a simultaneous aid distribution for some of their programs at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

The activity was in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s visit to Cebu for the groundbreaking of the Department of Transportation’s Cebu Bus Rapid Transit Phase 1.

Some 700 people received P5,000 each from the DSWD’s Assistance for Crisis Situation program, where 400 were from Mandaue City, 200 from Cebu City and 100 from Lapu-Lapu City. They also received a grocery pack containing six kilos of rice, four cans of corned beef, four cans of tuna, two tins of sardines, five sachets of coffee, and five sachets of a cereal drink.

Twenty received P8,000 from the DTI’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa.

DA provided 10 bags of open pollinated variety of white corn seeds (20 kilograms each), 10 bags of genetically modified hybrid yellow corn seeds (10 kg each) and information, education and communication campaign materials, and 200 packs of tomato and eggplant seeds to around 149 beneficiaries from seven farmer associations.

Dole also paid P4,350 each to 3,130 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) beneficiaries for working for government for 10 days.

In his speech, Marcos assured the public of the government’s help. He also shared his goal of having a time when Filipinos will no longer ask for government’s help because they already have stable jobs, food and permanent places to live in.
