Oro LGU, SEC agree to promote financial literacy, investor education

THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Monday, February 27, 2023, for the implementation of the SEC Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC CAN) campaign in the city.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, City Administrator lawyer Roy HIlario Raagas, SEC-CDO Extension Office Director lawyer Frederick Enopia and Supervising Administrative Officer Jesher Radaza signed the MOA.

The SEC CAN is a nationwide campaign composed of representatives from the public and private sectors with a shared mission to promote financial literacy and investor education to all Filipinos.

The said campaign highlights topics on the fundamentals of investor protection and investment scams.

According to SEC, Cagayan de Oro is the first local government unit in Northern Mindanao to collaborate with them for SEC CAN, which is set to be implemented within this year.
